Taylor L. EmersonTaylor L. Emerson is the head of the firm’s Civil Law Department. Taylor has lived in Ventura for over thirty years. Taylor graduated high school at fifteen and then went on to major in International Business at Pepperdine University. She then graduated from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1999 and from Ventura College of Law in 2002. During law school, Taylor worked for a law firm that specialized in medical malpractice, personal injury and construction. In addition, she worked at the Ventura Self Help Legal Access Center as a volunteer throughout law school in order to assist individuals through the daunting legal process they were facing without legal representation. Following law school, Taylor passed the California Bar in 2003 and went on to pursue a career in civil litigation focusing on insurance defense where she worked for numerous insurance companies, including Travelers, St. Paul Fire & Marine, Deans and Homer, Allied and State Farm. During her career, she has argued and won a breach of contract case in front of the Appellate Court of California, successfully taken and defended hundreds of depositions throughout the United States and Canada, second chaired a land subsidence case in San Luis Obispo where she obtained a defense verdict after a seven week jury trial and prevailed on multiple motions for summary judgment wherein she was able to obtain a favorable outcome for her clients without the cost and necessity of a trial. Taylor is familiar with all areas of civil litigation and is able to utilize her skills to best posture the matter for a successful resolution for her clients. At Leiderman Devine LLP, Taylor continues to zealously represent her clients as plaintiffs and defendants in civil matters. Taylor is admitted to practice in California State Courts and the Southern and Central Districts of California. When Taylor is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Eric, and three children, Dairen, Dylan and Ella. She often spends the weekends running, at the beach and engaging in activities with the kids. |
